Maties Rowing claim historic results at USSA Rowing Sprints

Maties Rowing landed third place overall at the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Rowing Sprints competition, that took place on the 5-6 April at Club Elani, Misverstand Dam

The club snatched six gold medals, five silver medals and eight bronze medals in the respective crew categories. The club that was established in 1987, has never seen a performance like this in its history.

Senior Sport Manager, Karen Swart expressed her excitement with the historic results saying: “I am so proud of the medals won by our students at the USSA Rowing Sprints competition. Our coaches and rowers have been working hard, and these results are testament to the long hours they have put it. We are excited for building on these results as a club this year.”

Maties Rowing were also excited to present the following men who were chosen for blues and grudge at USSA Rowing Sprints 2025. This is the most men the club have had qualify for blues and grudge in the history of Maties Rowing. What a huge achievement for those selected, who have done Maties Rowing proud!

There were some big results for the club, Maties Sport are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and all their results, many of which are club records. We can’t wait to see what this year brings for Maties Rowing. Watch this space!
