Stellenbosch University is gearing up for a thrilling weekend of competitive gaming as Maties Esports prepares to represent the maroon machine in the Varsity Esports Tournament from 25–27 July 2025. This marks the first split seeding finals, with top teams looking to secure their place in the grand finals scheduled for December.
Maties will be competing across three major titles: FC25, Rocket League, and Valorant.
In FC25, Maties stars Keeran and Vihape will face off against Varsity College in what promises to be a tightly contested seeding final. Both players have shown consistent form throughout the season and are determined to carry Maties to the top.
Rocket League will feature two formidable Maties squads: SU TaMaties and SU Turbo Charge. SU TaMaties will go head-to-head with the University of Pretoria (UP), while SU Turbo Charge takes on the University of Cape Town (UCT) in a high-octane match-up that is sure to draw attention.
In Valorant, it’s a Maties derby as SU Odin clashes with SU Bravo in a battle that showcases the depth and strength of Stellenbosch’s talent pool.
With high stakes and national recognition on the line, Maties Esports is ready to rise to the challenge and continue building momentum toward the December grand finals.
